Produced mainly in Belgium, the term "Brevete" can be applied to any revolver made in Europe under license by Colt using one or more of their patents. The top flat at the breech is marked "COLT / BREVETE" and the left side of the barrel lug is marked with "Crown/N" proof mark. The 6-shot cylinder is engraved with a stagecoach hold up scene and is marked "colts patent" in script and also features a Belgian "E/ L G/ *" Liege and "crown / N" proof. The matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame and trigger guard. Silver plated round brass trigger guard and back strap and fitted with one piece smooth grips.
Partially refurbished. The barrel shows signs of some cleaning with mostly artificial brown finish and a few small areas of minor pitting. The cylinder retains strong original finish mixed with smooth brown patina. The frame shows polish marks and a mostly silvered out case colored finish. The trigger guard and back strap show strong original silver plating mostly on the top of the back strap and in protected areas of the trigger guard with the balance an aged patina. The grips are very fine with 90% original finish and overall some scattered minor dings and dents. The cylinder scene and markings are clear. The action is fine. Purchased from Dormac Allen in 1983 and from the Will Hoffeld Collection.
