Standard two line address/patent dates marking on top of the barrel, blade front and adjustable rear sights, rear sight marked with Savage Arms patent date. The left side of the barrel is marked "SAVAGE HIGH PRESSURE STEEL. / -----MODEL 1899----". Brass counter on the left side of the receiver, jeweled bolt and smooth Schnabel forearm and straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate.
Very good. The barrel retains approximately 30% thinning blue finish on the barrel mixed with some smooth brown patina and there are a few scattered small areas of minor pitting. Approximately 30% of the thinning blue finish remains on the receiver sides, 90% on the tangs, strong traces on the lever assembly and remaining metal a smooth grayish mottled patina. Some minor pitting on the receiver. The wood is good with some scattered minor dings and pressure dents. Markings are clear. The action is fine.
Made between 1899 and 1915. Standard markings with a Lyman dovetail blade front sight, a Marble's semi-buckhorn rear sight on the barrel and a spring loaded Marble's peep sight on the receiver. The receiver has a casehardened lever and the later style pin hammer indicator. Smooth pistol grip stock with Schnabel forearm tip and serrated steel buttplate.
Very good, with 30-40% of the faded original blue finish, with the receiver turning a gray patina overall, and some light wear and spotting overall. The stock is very good, with some mild varnish loss and minor handling marks. The action is excellent.
