Built with blued Bohler Antinit steel barrels featuring a beaded blade front sight, a flip-up rear sight, and a set of German style claw mounts holding a Zeiss Diavari-Z 2.5-10x52mm scope. The barrels are marked with 1980 dated proofs and the 16 gauge barrel has a 2 3/4 inch chamber and a choke constriction of .028 inches. The barrels are embellished with oak leaf and scrolling gold inlaid line work at the breech with matching embellishments on the front claw base and both scope claws. The barrels are fitted to a beautiful coin finished triggerplate action with false sideplates and Kersten crossbolts which displays highly attractive deep relief oak leaf and game scene engraving consisting of a wild boar confronted by a pair of dogs on the left, a chamois on the underside, and a doe and fawn in a standoff with a fox on the right. The engraving is surrounded by finely inlaid gold line work with scrolls adding to the elegant look of the gun. Though the work is unsigned, it was carried out by Master Engraver Philipp Reinhard according to an included email from Peter Hambrusch to a previous owner. The gun features bushed firing pins, selector located on the left lockplate, double single set triggers, and a tang mounted manual safety with gold "S" marking. The gun is mounted with a beautifully figured and scaled forend with engraved and gold inlaid forend iron and a pistol grip stock with a capercallie engraved on the grip cap surrounded by gold, a raised cheekpiece, and a Pachmayr recoil pad. Included is a second 24 7/8 inch barrel set for a .222 Remington over 30-06 with matching engraving, its own three-piece forend, and a Zeiss Diavari ZM 2.5-10x50mm T* scope. Also included is a wood and canvas takedown case that houses the entire set. Length of pull 14 5/8 inches. Weight 9 lbs. 10 oz. (with scope).
Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue, gold, and coin finishes with minor handling evidence, stress line at upper tang, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. The extra barrel set is excellent. Both scopes have sharp optics. The case is very fine. Mechanically excellent.
