Introduced c.1897-1898, the Charola y Anitua pistol was a contemporary to the Mauser Broomhandle pistol, while also bearing a strong mechanical and aesthetic resemblance to the Broomhandle, with a clip-loaded internal magazine positioned ahead of the triggerguard, short recoil action with a spring driven bolt, and a frame mounted hammer. Approximately 900 were made in this configuration, with a set of fixed sights, "I. CHAROLA - EIBAR CAL. 5 m/m" on top of the barrel, and a "Ch.y.A." winged bullet trademark on the left side of the frame. Fine engraved zig-zag borders and scroll accents are present on the sides of the frame, with niter blue small parts and smooth pearl grips. Both the A and B pistol fit in the included Huey Custom hardwood case, which also contains three screwdrivers, a cleaning rod with extension, and a pair of oil containers.
Very good, 75% of the refinished blue finish, with areas of brown patina, edge wear, pitting concentrated underneath the grip panels, and mild handling marks overall. Some chipping is present at the rear of the barrel extension, concealed by the frame when the bolt is in battery. Over 80% of the refurbished niter blue is present on the small parts, and the grips are very good, with minor edge chips. Mechanically needs adjustment. The case is excellent, with minor handling marks.
Marked, configured and decorated as A, in the same case.
Very fine, 85% plus original nickel finish, showing some spotting, scratches and areas of wear to bare steel with a gray patina. The barrel extension is cracked on the left side, running through the ejector port. Grips are very good, with some chipping. Mechanically needs adjustment.
