20,010 Model 1922 M1 training rifles were reportedly manufactured c. 1924-1933. Many of these Model 1922 M1 rifles were updated to the subsequent M2 configuration and had the addition of an extra "1" marking added to their receivers, with this excellent example being a scarce exception. The top of the receiver ring has the first type markings (covered by the scope block) consisting of "U.S./SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY/MODEL OF 1922/MI. CAL. .22" above the serial number. Lyman globe front sight and Lyman adjustable peep micrometer rear sight attached to the right side of the receiver, "S A/(flaming bomb)/7-26" marked barrel, and a polished bolt correctly with the electro-stenciled matching serial number on the body. Fitted with a pistol grip walnut stock with a solid heavy checkered steel buttplate, along with a blued unmarked magazine with an added hand etched "D" in a triangle on the side. Includes an informational display card and generic nylon soft case.
Excellent, retains 90% plus original blue finish with some finish wear concentrated around the forward portion of the barrel and muzzle as well as the edges of the buttplate. Stock is also excellent with rich oil finish, a few light scratches, and defined edges. Mechanically excellent.
