Description:Built in 1947 on an unmarked Model 98 action which features a hooded ramped beaded blade front sight, front sling stud, caliber marking at the left of the chamber, and "No. 1810 GRIFFIN & HOWE INC. NEW YORK" signed on the top. The barrel is fitted to the blued action which has a matted front ring, G&H scope mount holding a Lyman Alaskan 2 1/2x scope, receiver sight base (peep absent), and unadorned bottom metal. The rifle is mounted in an attractively figured and multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with contrasting forend tip, blued steel grip cap, blank inscription oval, rear sling stud, and a blued steel trapdoor buttplate.
Rating Definition:Very fine as built by Griffin & Howe, retaining 98% blue finish, some thinning on the floorplate, a few tiny freckles of spotting, and sharp checkering on the stock. Mechanically excellent. Scope optics clear.
