First Year Production Smith & Wesson .357 Combat Magnum Pre-Model 19 Double Action Revolver with Box and Factory Letter

The included factory letter lists this 1st year production revolver as having a 4 inch barrel, ramp front sight, blue finish, and checkered walnut target grips when shipped to Evaluators Ltd. in Quantico, Virginia, as part of a 50 gun shipment on September 14, 1956. Evaluators Ltd. was the gun store owned by General George Van Orden and his wife Flora Van Orden and was known for their strenuous inspection of every item that crossed through their doors, as well as being the name sake of the famous Winchester "Van Orden Sniper" Model 70 configuration. Includes S&W blue box marked for a K-22 Masterpiece along with a Combat Magnum end label and numbered to the gun on the underside, a then-in stock factory labeled box original to this very revolver.

ConditionExcellent overall, retaining 98% plus original blue finish with light handling marks a cylinder drag line and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. Box is very good with some fading.
