This 19th century double barrel pinfire shotgun has Damascus barrels with a bead front sight, "F. STADELMANN & COMP. IN SUHL" in gold inlay on the rib, a gold inlaid flourish on the rib at the breech, and dual gold bands inlaid at the breech end of each barrel. The mounts have classic Germanic foliate scroll engraving. The back action locks and trigger guard are engraved with hunting scenes with gold inlaid game animals: a stag on the right, brace of fowl on the left, and a hind on the trigger guard. Matching serial numbers are found on the forearm, barrels, lever ("10"), and buttplate. The right trigger is single set, and the left trigger is plain. The trigger guard has a horn grip extension. The stock has a checkered wrist, cheekpiece, and a 14 inch length of pull.
Very good with 30% original brown finish and distinct Damascus patterns along the barrels, bright gold inlays, gray patina on the action and mounts, crisp engraving, and mild overall wear. Aside from a couple of chips on the forearm, the wood is also fine and has distinct checkering, smooth re-oiled finish, and light scratches and dings. Mechanically fine.
