Manufactured in 1915, this rifle bears the "bomb/N.R.A." mark on the front of the triggerguard assembly denoting it as having been released from military stores for private sale through the National Rifle Association for use in competition and target shooting. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with an "11-15" dated Springfield barrel, and a small brass shade tube added to the rear sight. The receiver has the standard sans-serif markings on the receiver ring, with "81" on the underside of the rear locking lug and the aforementioned NRA mark on the triggerguard. The straight wrist stock has a single reinforcing bolt, with a brown leather sling, "J.S.A." on the left, "P" behind the triggerguard, and a checkered steel buttplate. Included with the lot is a P.J. O'Hare rear sight adjustment tool (not compatible with the unique installed shade tube).
Very fine, with 85% of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown patina, minor spotting, and light handling marks. The stock is fine, with some minor chipping visible around the buttplate and tang, and mild scratches and dings overall. Mechanically excellent.
