In 1967 Mario Abbiatico and Remo Salvinelli founded Fabbrica Armi di Mario Abbiatico e Remo Salvinelli, more commonly known as FAMARS. Since the beginning the two have been innovators in the world of fine arms and have made a name for themselves creating some of the finest bespoke guns ever built. This gun was built with blued steel barrels featuring a single bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib, "Armi Famars" engraved on the left tube, light engraving at the breech, 1975 dated Italian proofs on the flats, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with a single extractor. The barrels are mated to a gorgeous casehardened rebounding hammer action which displays extensive floral scroll engraving over matted background extending to the pierced toplever, dual trigger triggerguard, and both tangs as well as gold inlaid "Famars" on the underside and gold inlaid line borders around either lockplate. The engraving is signed on the triggerplate on both sides of the trigger, the left shows "More II", who is yet to be identified, the right has the initials "RJC" for English trained American Master Engraver Ron J. Collins. The gun is fitted with a nicely figured and multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and a straight grip stock with a checkered bare butt. Included with the gun is a Famars takedown case. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech proofed at 18.5/18.4mm (.728/.724 inches) and measured .727/.729 inches; choke constriction .020/.039 inches; minimum wall thickness .031/.028 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 3/16 inch drop at heel; 14 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 14 oz.
Excellent as custom finished overall, retaining 98% original blue finish with the barrels turned a thinning plum color, 99% original casehardened and gold finishes, a few minor scratches on the barrels, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.
