Manufactured in 1940, this heavy barrel variation of Colt's Officer's Model revolver is equipped with a few of the ever desirable King Gun Sight Co. modifications. This example has been fitted with the very attractive Colt-King Super Target vented rib, which is in turn fitted with a King "Ramp Reflector" front sight. The rear sight is an adjustable notch and it is fitted with a King "Cockeyed Hammer" which is offset to the left for ease of one handed cocking. The trigger and back strap have fine checkering. The standard Colt Officer's Model "Heavy Barrel" markings are on the left of the barrel and the Rampant Colt is on the left of the frame. The matchings serial number is on the frame and crane. It is fitted with a pair of checkered walnut grips with Colt medallions at the tops. Includes a rare King Gun Sight Co. catalog listing their services and products, including those installed on this revolver.
Very fine as King upgraded, with 90% plus of the blue finish with some mild edge were, a series of minor dings under the finish on the left of the frame, and some scattered light handling marks. The grips are excellent with a few scattered light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The catalog is excellent with very minimal wear.
