Manufactured in 1941, this Mauser pistol is fitted out and inspected for use as a police sidearm. Blade front and notch rear sights, with "1941" and "eagle/L" inspection marks on the chamber, the commercial style Mauser "banner" logo on the front toggle link. The barrel is unmarked save for the "8,84" internal diameter marking and alignment mark, and the grips are unnumbered, otherwise parts are matching overall. A spring loaded sear safety is mounted to the receiver, though no cuts have been made to the frame or grips for a magazine well safety. Finish is full blue, with hardwood grips. Both included magazines are Haenel marked with alloy bases, one with a blued body and "eagle/C" on the base, the other with a stainless steel body, "eagle/L" on the right side, and "2/498/eagle/L" on the base. Also included with the lot is a black leather "1941" dated Otto Sindel police-pattern holster, which is numbered to the pistol on the back, with a takedown tool. Provenance: The Putnam Green/Sycamore Collection; Property of a Gentleman
Excellent, with 95% plus original blue finish, showing bright wear on the edges, the start of a brown patina on the gripstraps, gray below the lanyard staple, and mild handling marks overall. The grips are also excellent, with some shallow dings on the otherwise crisp checkering. The holster is fine, with some light cracks and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
