Description:This is one of an estimated 215 Mid-Range Sharps-Borchardt rifles that were manufactured from 1877 to 1880. With custom barrel marked "A.A. KELOGG NEW HAVEN, CONN," with two Unertl pattern scope bases attached. The barrel is fitted with a globe front sight with wind gauge and a folding ladder rear sight graduated 0-25. There is a Vernier peep sight mounted in the integral base on the upper tang. The serial number is marked on the bottom of the action just in front of the trigger. The frame features 90% coverage floral engraving, with gold inlay moose game scene on the left side and ram game scene on the right, fitted with smooth horn panels. It is mounted with a finely figured, Schnabel tip, multi-point checkered forearm and checkered pistol grip stock with hard rubber grip cap and checkered, "SRCo" monogrammed, hard rubber, shotgun buttplate.
Rating Definition:Exceptionally fine as elaborately custom embellished, with 99% of blue finish retained on barrel, 97% coin finish on the action, and limited handling marks. Light spotting in the relief chiseling on action lever. Crisp checkering and minor handling marks on forearm and buttstock. Mechanically very good.
