One of a small number of Luger pistols manufactured in Germany and routed through Switzerland after World War I, where they could be fitted with barrels that exceeded the lengths permitted by the Treaty of Versailles prior to further export to Abercrombie & Fitch Company of New York, then the largest outfitting and sporting goods firm in the United States. The barrels were manufactured by Hammerli, with the barrel on this example marked "ABERCROMBIE & FITCH Co NEW YORK/MADE IN SWITZERLAND" on top. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, Swiss "cross in starburst" on the chamber, and a "DWM" monogram on the front toggle. Extractor marked "GELADEN" and safety polished bright in lower position. The small parts are straw finished, and the nickel finished magazine is stamped "GERMANY" on the repaired hardwood base.
Excellent, retaining 97% plus original blue finish and 85% straw colors with scattered light handling marks, faint spotting, and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent.
