Manufactured in June 1942, mere months after the United State's entry into World War II. Features a winged blade front with screw cap and type 1 "lock-bar" rear sight assembly. With a narrow-base gas cylinder and single-slot plug. The barrel is marked "S-A-6-42" on the right of the chamber. Includes an unmodified "D35382 3 SA" marked operating rod, short fork follower rod, "8" marked follower, and "D28287-12SA/W9B" bolt. The trigger housing is marked "D28290-7-SA," with a "C46008-3 SA" hammer, "C46015-9SA" safety, and unmarked milled trigger guard. Fitted with a smooth pistol grip stock bearing a boxed "S.A./E.McF." (Earl McFarland) inspection cartouche and large crossed cannons ordnance wheel stamped on the left of the wrist, with a circled serif "P" proof on the underside, along with arched profile lower band and single-grove milled rear handguard clip. Includes an unmarked brass hook M1907 leather sling.
Exceptionally fine, retaining 90% plus parkerized finish with scattered handling marks and edge wear. The otherwise fine stock has several minor dents and scrapes, with clear cartouches. The sling is very fine with supple leather. Mechanically excellent.
