Manufactured in 1948 and subsequently embellished by Master Engraver Jeff Flannery. Blued steel barrel with 2 3/4 inch chamber and choke marked "MOD." and standard markings on the left and "Blue Skies and Clear Shots Love Lynne, Joshua, Alexandra, and Nicholas" hand engraved on the right. The blued action features floral scroll engraving with wavy line and gold inlaid borders, as well as a game scene on either side. The right scene shows an eagle swooping down to grab its next victim, and the right has a pointer and a pheasant in a field scene with gold inlaid initials "R.S B." above. All three of the animals have been gold inlaid. The top of the ejection port has been signed "J. Flannery Eng." Mounted in a wonderfully figured multipoint checkered walnut forend and pistol grip stock with Old English recoil pad. Stock measurements: 1 1/4 inch drop at comb; 2 1/8 inch drop at heel; 14 7/16 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs. 7 oz.
Very fine as embellished by Jeff Flannery, retaining 90% refinished blue finish with some oxidation on the barrel and collar, moderate handling marks, and crisp engraving. Wood is fine with scattered dings and scratches, chips in the checkering, and two hairline cracks with the wood grain on the right side. Mechanically functions, though the slide release must be actuated in order to operate the slide after each shot.
