1) This patent model consists of 6 barrels, with percussion nipples at the rear. The gear on the right side turns, which subsequently drives a wheel which brings down the hammers onto the nipples. 2) Original patent model for Sherman's patent #144,872 dated 25 November 1873 on a double barrel shotgun. Marked "H. N. SHERMAN/BELOIT. WIS" on a brass plate on the bottom of the model. The model is all wood except for the trigger guard and the barrel release, which is the backwards trigger inside the front of the guard. Original patent office tags accompany the model. 3) James W. Armstrong and John Taylor, both of Augusta, KY, patented this rotating barrel rifle with a cam operated extractor on the center pin that the barrel rotated on. Patent #37025 was issued 25 November 1862. The patent model was constructed of wood with pins and rear of trigger guard made of metal. Two years later, Lewis Triplett of nearby Columbia, KY added a magazine in the butt and the Triplett & Scott Civil War carbine was born. Comes with original patent office tag. 4) Joseph Duval patented this Martin type single shot rifle 14 March 1871, patent #112,565. The all wood patent model is full-size, measuring 16 inches overall, including the tangs and stub of the barrel. The breechblock is pivoted downward for loading when the hammer is brought to full cock and rises when the tripper is pulled for firing. The mainspring is missing. No patent office tags.
