Manufactured in 1918. Marbles 37M beaded blade front sight, elevation adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight, and flip up Lyman peep sight on the upper tang. The left sides of the upper and lower tangs are stamped with assorted numbers including "255", "149", "248", and "99". The inside of the buttplate is stamped "267", and the butt end of the stock is marked "248".
Fine as assembled with partially period refinished barrel, areas of edge wear, dents along the edges of the flats, mixed brown and gray patina on the magazine tube, and artificial brown patina and light crudely re-stamped proof visible on the receiver top. The wood is also fine with small dings, some deeper dents and bruises, well defined checkering, and mixed brown patina on the buttplate. Mechanically excellent.
