Manufactured c. early 1900s, this rare 20-Shot flatside cone hammer Mauser Model 1896 Broomhandle pistol is part of a small batch in their own approximate 1-90 serial range reportedly believed to have been intended for sales to South and Central America. The top of the barrel extension is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N" in three lines. The serial number "82" is marked on the rear of the frame, hammer, firing pin retainer, underside of the rear sight ladder, and on some internal components. This pistol has early features including the cone hammer, the long extractor on top of the breech bolt, the first style safety lever that is pulled down to engage, tangent rear graduated from 1-10 (100-1,000 meters), one-lug firing pin and "20-shot" frame forging. Note: This item features a high-capacity magazine which has a capacity above 15 rounds and cannot be sold or transferred to residents in states where handgun magazine capacity is limited to no more than 15 rounds. Please check your local laws and regulations prior to bidding.
Very fine as professionally refinished, with nearly all of the finish and some minor pitting visible on the hammer. Replacement grips are also very fine with only a couple of minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
