Manufactured c. mid-19th century. "LEMAN/LANCTR. PA" marked lock and "LEMAN/LANCASTER WARRANTED" marked barrel.
Good with mix of dark brown patina and finish, moderate oxidation/pitting at the breech, chips in the stock, attractive false flame figure, and general moderate wear. Mechanically fine.
Barrel stamped "J. STAPLETON" in an engraved panel. James Stapleton (1833-1900) was a gunsmith working in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.
