Description:
Manufactured c. 1855-57 as 1 of approximately 1,500 built with an 8" barrel. This pistol was manufactured before Oliver Winchester acquired the majority of the Volcanic Repeating Arms Co. stock and reorganized it as the New Haven Arms Co. in 1857. The top barrel flat is marked "The VOLCANIC/REPEATING ARMS CO./PATENT NEW HAVEN CONN FEB 14 1854." Both grip panels and lever are numbered to the gun.
Rating Definition:
Fine with refinished barrel, attractive mellow appearance on the brass with the front sight ground off on the barrel. Grips are fine as revarnished with vertical cracks visible on lower right panel. Mechanically fine.
