The consignor states that their father got it in Japan at the Imperial Palace. Pg. 15 of February 2018 Man At Arms article “The Military Handguns Of Imperial Japan”, by Paul Scarlota states, “Smith & Wesson records show that 1,550 of the No. 2 Old Army revolvers were shipped to Japan in 1868.”
